Hello all of LDK,

It's me Odis.. hows everyone doing.. i've been trying to keep myself up to date with the guild by readin the forums and stuff, but i've been to busy with school and soccer to actually log on and have some quality time..

but soccer is now over and i'm gonna be getting back into action. I actually tried i log on earlier today, and when i was loading the EQ patcher, a window popped up and said "No 3D Device Found", and then the patcher shut down and nothing else happened.. so pretty much i can't get on until i fix this problem...

any ideas on what to do?

Buh..uh...random guess here but I'd say try to repatch a patch or something... maybe you somehow didn't get a file..? [img]confused.gif[/img]

But truthfully I don't know what to do other than that, I'd probably just wait for Ginlas' awesome wisdom on computers and stuffs. (worship the computer Gooroo! ooommmmmmmm..ooommmmm [img]wink.gif[/img] )

Okies, try these 2 steps, (1) go to microsoft.com and find the directx section, download and install directx 9.0c.

(2) download the latest driver for your video card if step one does not work, or if you want the latest driver anyways. if you do not know what and/or where to download for driver I will need to know your video card or the make and moel of your comp.

The directx should take care of the problem, let me know, either here or thru eqim or email at [email protected]

I figured out why "No 3D Devices are Found"

I downloaded directx 9, and installed it.. everything seemed to be going fine, so i started up the patcher and it sitll said no devices were found.

So, i went to check which type of video card i have so i could download the correct driver.. well, it turns out that computer doesn't recognize andy type of video card.this is what it says:

So i really don't know what to do now... does this mean that something happened to my video card to the point that i have to buy a new one? or did it possibly come loose? i'm totally clueless to this point.. please help me out

Wheeelp got another idea to try and get it so you can log on... directions are:

1- Start, run, "dxdiag"

2- go to display tab

3- test direct 3d

4- go through it

5- exit and then go into EQ

.....Thanks again to Floydicus for sharing this... apparently he has had the same problem too, Odi.. **NOTE** you'll have to do this every time you log off and shut down and such in order to log onto EQ... I sowwy Odi, mebbe Sony will fix it in a patch or something..at least one can always hope [img]confused.gif[/img]

OK,

It appears you have no current driver installed and are running on the windows default driver, please give me the make and model of your computer unless you have the information about your video card available. The fact that your system is usable leads me to think your card is ok, but drivers got messed up somehow. No worries, we'll get ya back on asap, my appologies for not logging out yesterday and checking for your post, esp once Muyah said you stil had a problem [img]redface.gif[/img] I will keep checking as much as I can today, every hour or so, to see if you post.

No 3D Device Found Error

If you are receiving the "No 3D device found" error then you will want to run the DirectX diagnostic tool. Clicking on Run from your Start menu and typing "dxdiag" does this. After the DirectX Diagnostic Tool loads, click on the Display tab. Voodoo1/Voodoo2 card users will select the Display2 tab. Under the section labeled DirectX Features, you should see two entries. The first is DirectDraw and the second is Direct3D. Make sure both are listed as "Acceleration Enabled". If they are not, click the Enable button to the right of the respective entry. If there is no Direct3D available, or the Enable button is grayed out, your video card is not capable of using Direct3D and you will not be able to play the game with this hardware. Please refer to the Video FAQ available at http://www.everquest.com for the list of supported video cards.

If your video card is listed as being supported and you are still showing a "No 3D device found" error, please make sure you are using the latest drivers. Also, right click on the My Computer icon, left click on Properties, then select the Performance tab. Left click on the Graphics button, and make sure the slider bar is set to full (all the way to the right).

Below is a list of cards that are unsupported by DirectX 9. These are also cards that no longer have driver support by the manufacturer. While your card may work with EverQuest after installing DirectX 9, we are unable to provide support for it if it is on this list.

It is required to have DX9 now, to play EQ so if your card does not support it there is a good chance you may need a newer one.


To find out what kind of video card you have

click start, right click my computer, left click properties, hardware, device manager. go to display adapters and click on +, right click on video card, left click properties

You should be able to find out what kind of video card, if your system has the drivers for it.

If not try downloading this program AIDA32, unzip it and when you run it click on AIDA32, then click on display you *should* be able to find out at least what kind of video card you have.

If you do find out and its an ATI, go to

http://www.ati.com and downlaod the latest drivers.

*Note* Ive read a lot about ATI drivers malfunctioning if you do not uninstall the Drivers AND the Control panel (driver software) so be sure to do that if you do have an ATI

If you have an Nvidia Geforce MX/FX series go to

http://www.nvidia.com

Also uninstall the nvidia drivers to be safe before installing.

Well i talked to a live support technician for about 40 min and i think we got everything worked out, i can now get all the way to the Login Screen [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

but now i need to renew my subscription, which i was suprised about because i haven't played in over 9 weeks, so once i find some money.. ill go buy a pre-paid card.

haha.. and remember when i said soccer was over? well, i have spring soccer try-outs tomorrow(tuesday) so i won't be able to go buy the card tomorrow, so the earliest you wll see me is probably over the weekend.. thanks for all the help guys/gals.
